Plant Centre Team Member​​​​​​

We're always on the look out for knowledgeable and hardworking Plant Team Members with full or part time hours to suit.  This is a hands-on, physically demanding role suited to someone who thrives in an active outdoor environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. A strong understanding of plants is essential, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

This is not an easy role—it requires stamina, resilience, and a genuine passion for plants. You'll be on your feet for most of the day, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and handling physically demanding tasks. In return, you'll be part of a supportive team in a vibrant, plant-focused environment where your knowledge and effort make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to customers on plant selection, care, and maintenance
  • Maintain high standards of plant health and presentation, including watering, pruning, feeding, and pest control
  • Receive, unload, and move plant deliveries, often involving heavy lifting and manual handling
  • Merchandise and replenish stock, ensuring displays are attractive, well-organised, and seasonally relevant
  • Assist customers promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive shopping experience
  • Support general upkeep of the plant area, keeping it clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Work as part of a team to meet daily operational targets and maintain efficiency during busy periods

Skills & Experience

  • Strong plant knowledge (essential), including seasonal plants, shrubs, perennials, and basic plant care
  • Previous experience in a garden centre, nursery, or horticultural environment (preferred)
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks in all weather conditions
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to work hard
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

 

 

Part-Time Temporary Sales Assistant – Garden Centre

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Sales Assistants to join our Garden Centre team on a temporary, part-time basis.

This is a varied, customer-facing role where you'll help provide an excellent shopping experience while ensuring the garden centre is well stocked, tidy and presented to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing friendly, helpful and welcoming customer servic
  • Operating the tills accurately and efficiently, including cash and card payments
  • Replenishing stock and maintaining attractive product displays
  • Merchandising products to maximise presentation and sales
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and store standards
  • Assisting with deliveries, stock movements and general stock maintenance
  • Helping customers with product queries and directing them to appropriate products
  • Supporting colleagues across the garden centre as required
  • Following company procedures, including cash handling, health and safety and customer service procedures

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a friendly, positive and approachable manner
  • Enjoys working with customers and providing excellent service
  • Is reliable, punctual and works well as part of a team
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards and has good attention to detail
  • Is confident and comfortable using a till, or willing to learn
  • Is flexible and happy to help wherever needed
  • Can work in a busy environment while maintaining a high standard of service
  • Is physically able to carry out stock replenishment and heavy lifting where required
  • Is comfortable working outdoors when required, including in varying weather conditions
  • Has left school
  • Previous retail or customer service experience would be an advantage, but training will be provided for the right person.

Hours & Availability

This is a temporary, part-time position.

Applicants must be available to work weekdays during the daytime, as well as evenings and weekends. Flexibility is essential, as hours may vary according to the needs of the business.

Location & Transport

Due to our location and limited public transport access, access to a car and the ability to drive to work is preferred.
